Growing up as the youngest son of Pastor Michelet and Elmire Cherenfant, I had the unique vantage point of watching two lives completely surrendered to the service of others. My parents didn't just preach the values of the Seventh-day Adventist faith; they lived them with a quiet, steady rhythm that moved everyone around them. Their lives were a masterclass in what it means to be a neighbor. They saw the community not as a collection of strangers, but as an extension of our own family, and that perspective has shaped every bit of who I am today.
I have always admired the way they balanced high-level leadership with a down-to-earth, accessible kindness. There was a certain peace in how they moved through the world, a cool confidence that came from knowing exactly why they were here: to lift the fallen and restore the broken. Following in those footsteps isn't about the noise or the spotlight for me. It is about maintaining that same steady pulse of service, making sure that our religious values of stewardship and compassion find a practical home in the streets and neighborhoods where they are needed most.
My dedication to the MEC Foundation is personal. It is about preserving the soul of what my parents started and ensuring that the mission stays grounded in the community.
